about traveling

So I had this idea to go out to California to see the redwoods sometime in August. It’s beginning to look like too much money and time and mental capacity, so I suppose this year is closed off. The next is quite unclear and I’m kind of excited. I feel trapped in 2009. I could count down the days until I graduate but I won’t because I hate the thought.
at home

I went home to Novi for a few days. I brought Taz with me and he doesn’t like my dog much. He’s been swatting her in the face each time she gets too near. Luckily he’s declawed in the front. I let him roam in my front yard a little bit today, too. He sat, mesmerized by the smell of a bush not far from the front door and this afforded me some time to grab my camera.
I rode 16 miles tonight, up until sunset. It was a good recovery from yesterday and the day before. Novi is pretty nice to bike through. It brings back memories, rolling through parts of town. Something’s being built next to the library where an old barn once stood, its frame orange with rust.
Working the lab

I realized while helping someone troubleshoot his negatives in the photo lab today that it’s been a long time since I’ve made any work in the darkroom yet I’ve been helping others with their work just fine. It’s sort of funny how that works out.
I can’t believe it was snowing last night. I know it’s still a little early to be expecting warm weather but honestly, what the hell? Taz is shedding a whole bunch and brushing him can be really funny.
Charcoal Windmill
For the past few weeks in class, we’ve been working on a charcoal drawing based on a photograph. I chose a print I made in photo portfolio class from my cloud series.
